About Wirehead Energy Labs

Wirehead Energy Labs is an early stage alternative energy company with proprietary technology that is radically innovative and truly disruptive. Our invented technology (called “eureka!”) is an alternative energy device that supplies abundant, cheap, clean, and decentralized (on-site) electricity to homes.
eureka! works anywhere, anytime (day or night, summer or winter), all the time (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
About eureka!

One thing that makes eureka! really exciting is that it can generate electricity directly at the building where it’s needed, right on-site – anywhere that requires electricity. That is in stark contrast to how energy has traditionally been produced far away at a coal or gas plant, and then delivered long distances over inefficient power lines. During transmission, up to 15% of the electricity can be lost, making it much more efficient to produce power on-site. On-site power can also add an element of security for operations that really need ongoing power if the greater power grid goes down.

eureka! generates electricity that has zero carbon emissions and does not emit any harmful pollutants whatsoever. This will go a long way towards solving global warming, as well as preventing millions of deaths each year caused by toxic pollutants released by burning fossil fuels.

eureka! works anywhere, anytime (day or night, summer or winter), all the time (24 hours a day, 7 days a week). This gives eureka! a huge advantage over all other types of renewable energy, including hydro power (which depends on moving water), solar power (which depends on the sun shining), and wind power (which depends on the wind blowing).

eureka! is also far less expensive than solar panels or wind turbines. A 1,000 watt system with solar panels would only generate about 1,300 kWh per year, because it doesn't work at night or very well on cloudy days. A 1,000 watt system with eureka! would generate 8,760 kWh per year because it works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Taking that into account, the cost of eureka! is significantly less than solar panels.

eureka! has nothing to do with "free energy" or overunity or perpetual motion, because from a physics perspective, it is and OPEN SYSTEM, not a closed system
Our Testing Prototype

It might not look pretty, and is by no means "commercial ready" to be sold to the public, but our "Testing Prototype" has allowed us to test literally hundreds of configurations. Made out of wood and acrylic tubing and, of course, upwards of a hundred powerful neodymium magnets, and literally held together with nylon cable straps and duck tape, we've conducted well over 3,000 tests!

How eureka! Works

eureka! uses almost a hundred very powerful neodymium permanent magnets precisely configured along a "Magnet Track," which accelerate a neodymium spherical magnet to a high velocity. The Sphere passes through a Turbine connected to an Electrical Generator, converting the mechanical energy into electrical energy. By manipulating the magnetic field at critical points, the Sphere loops around the Magnet Track approximately once every two seconds, passing through the Turbine/Generator on each loop, enabling the device to generate a continuous supply of electricity, until the magnets loose some of their magnetic energy and need to be replaced.

Some people sometimes jump to the conclusion that this is some sort of perpetual motion machine. It is not. eureka! has nothing to do with "free energy" or overunity or perpetual motion, because from a physics perspective, it is an OPEN SYSTEM, not a closed system; perpetual motion only applies to closed systems. In physics, a closed system is a system which isn't subject to any force whose source is external to the system. eureka! utilizes gravity to enable the Sphere to drop from the top of the device to the bottom of the device, and re-enter the Magnet Track at the bottom of the device. Without utilizing gravity, the device would not work. Gravity is certainly an external force to which eureka! is subject to. Therefore, eureka! cannot be classified as a closed system. It is simply an innovative and inventive application of accepted science and known technology.

eureka! is no different than a wind turbine, which generates more electricity than it consumes because it is an open system. As long as the wind blows at a certain wind speed, a wind turbine will overcome friction and generate electricity. Likewise, as long as the magnets in eureka! have sufficient magnetic energy to lift and accelerate the Sphere, it will generate electricity. And since the Sphere moves in a vacuum tube, there is no friction, a definite advantage over a wind turbine.

Furthermore, in order to work, the device requires a recurring input of energy in the form of magnetic energy because the neodymium magnets lose energy over time. At some point, the neodymium magnets will no longer be able to accelerate the Sphere around the Magnet Track. In other words, the neodymium magnets need to be replaced, just like a nuclear power plant needs to be refueled every couple of years. Therefore, the device cannot be classified as a perpetual motion machine because there is nothing perpetual about it. eureka! requires an input of energy — magnetic energy — to keep working. This is no different than a nuclear power plant which typically refuels every 18 to 24 months. In the case of eureka!, it will need to "refuel" every 20 to 30 years! This is because neodymium magnets last a very long time. We also build the device with neodymium magnets that have more energy than is initially required. For example, if it takes 50lbs of "pull force" to move a neodymium Sphere around the Magnet Track, we may use neodymium magnets with 60lbs or 70lbs of pull force. Therefore, it would take several decades before the magnets lose magnetic energy and drop below 50lbs of pull force.

We're often asked why no one has thought of this before. Simply put, the materials and technology didn't exist 20 years ago. The device requires neodymium magnets, which were invented in 1983 by Sumitomo Special Metals (now owned by Hitachi Metals). Importantly, the device requires neodymium Spheres, which were only manufactured starting about 2001. eureka! will NOT work with ceramic magnets (they are not powerful enough) or steel Spheres (the Spheres need to be neodymium magnets). Just 10 years after neodymium Spheres started to be manufactured, we had the idea for the device and filed a patent. The device wouldn't be possible in the 1990's, because the materials and technology weren't available. When it comes to innovation, timing is so important.

Functionality:

  • When the device is switched off, the Sphere is stopped at the top of the Drop Tube (top left of the device), ready to drop as soon as the device is turned on.

  • When the device is turned on, the Sphere drops down the Drop Tube to the bottom of the device, accelerated by the Magnet Track and gravity.

  • The Sphere is then lifted an initial 10.5 inches up along the Magnet Track.

  • The Sphere is then accelerated along the Magnet Track for 12 inches, once again reaching maximum velocity, giving it enough momentum to climb another 9.5 inches in a semi-circle along the Magnet Track.

  • The Sphere is then accelerated along the top of the Magnet Track on a downward slope of 10 inches.

  • At the end of the Magnet Track, the Sphere is released from the end of the Magnet Track by certain methods of manipulating the magnetic field.

  • The Sphere then drops to the bottom of the device after passing through the Turbine/Generator, then re-enters the Magnet Track, and the cycle is repeated.

  • The basic unit for home use generates 1500 watts.

    Electricity Output

The device has 2 generators along the "free fall" section of the device generating 750 watts each (start-up torque 1.3 Nm, rated torque 7.43 Nm). Therefore, eureka! will generate a total of 1500 watts. In a 24 hour day the device will generate 36 kWh, enough to power an average home. This device will be about the size of a freezer and will generate electricity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, for decades.

The Company intends to make eureka! Plug-and-Play

    Milestones & Next Steps

The Company has built a Testing Prototype of the Magnet Track. This is the heart of the device and took several years of trial and error (and countless alternative designs) to develop. The Company now intends to hire engineers to develop a commercial ready product.

Importantly, the Company intends to relentlessly increase the electricity generated by the device, while at the same time reducing its size and cost. The most obvious way to do this is to find ways to increase the acceleration of the Sphere, which would increase the force (torque) the Sphere has as it passes through a Turbine. This would allow us to "upgrade" the Generators from 700 watts to 1,000+ watts, and upward as we make progress.

Finding ways to increase the number of Spheres in the system is another obvious way to increase electricity output. Increasing the number from 1 Sphere to 2 Spheres, for example, would double the electricity generated. This would require a more complex design of the device.

The Company intends to make eureka! Plug-and-Play by having eureka! built with a Plug-and-Play inverter that can simply be plugged into any 120-volt household outlet to "pump" electricity from eureka! into the home. Nothing could be simpler!

Thousands of eureka! units will be connected together, with the electricity sold directly to utility companies

    The Opportunity!

Electricity generation is a $3.1 trillion industry globally. Wirehead Energy Labs intends to be a global leader, providing electricity that is clean and cheap to homes worldwide.

“Worldwide 1.3 billion people continue to live without access to electricity. This is equivalent to 18% of the global population and 22% of those living in developing countries.”

“The world needs to double or triple its current spending — estimated at about $400 billion a year — to meet the United Nations' goal of bringing clean and modern electricity to all people by 2030.”

The Company plans to outsource manufacturing of the device in an "asset light" business model, similar to how Fisker outsources manufacturing of its electrical vehicles to Magma and Foxconn.

There are ~1.5 million new homes built in the U.S. every single year. A key target market for us will be the largest homebuilders. The top 15 homebuilders in the U.S. build ~200,000 homes per year. Our goal is that eureka! will be a standard feature in every new home built.

The Company plans to sell electricity directly to utility companies. Thousands of eureka! units will be connected together, with the electricity sold directly to utility companies. This principle is similar to how Internet companies like Amazon and Google connect thousands of servers together to add storage. eureka! can be networked together to increase electricity output.
